Safety & Health

Hearing protection is non-negotiable

Festival sound systems exceed 100dB. Permanent hearing damage starts at 85dB over 8 hours. High-fidelity earplugs (Eargasm, Loop, Etymotic) reduce volume without killing sound quality. Wear them for every set.

Sun and heat

Sunscreen SPF 30+ reapplied every 2 hours. Wide-brim hat during daytime sets. Seek shade between 11am-3pm. Know the signs of heat exhaustion: heavy sweating, weakness, nausea, dizziness. If you stop sweating, that's heat stroke — medical emergency.

Buddy system

Never go alone. Establish a meeting point if you get separated (a landmark, not 'by the stage'). Share your phone location with your crew. Agree on check-in times. If someone in your group seems off, don't leave them.

Know your limits

Pace yourself across multi-day festivals. You don't need to be at the front for every set. Rest days (or rest hours) are not wasted — they're what lets you enjoy the headliner on Day 3.

First aid basics

Pack: bandaids, blister pads (Compeed), ibuprofen, antacid, anti-diarrheal, antihistamine, hand sanitizer. Know where the medical tent is. Most festivals have free medical services — use them without hesitation.
